Fitness Friday: New Year, New Goals

It's that time of year again: time to reflect, assess, and set new goals.

But first, I made a list of some of my favorite running moments from 2012:

1. Earning a half marathon PR 1:57:51

2. Running another half marathon with my husband
3. Serving as a ZOOMA ambassador
4. Meeting and running with Joan Benoit Samuelson
5. Participating in my first relay RTB:NH
6. Finishing 6 half marathons!
7. Running and races with my step daughters.

It's been a year full of amazing running experiences, but did I meet my goals? Time for a little 2012 analysis:

1. Keep running!! - I ran more than 850 miles this year!
2. Run a race every month (at least one) - I ran a race every month - 19 total
3. Continue to improve my blog - Completely biased, but I think it's #1
4. Add another New England state to the list of places I have run - I ran a couple of races in Massachusetts this year
5. Keep meeting new running friends - I'm so lucky to have met so many amazing people this year. I'm looking forward to many more runs with all of you!

Looking back on my highlights and goals reminds me that every accomplishment begins with the decision to try. So, here are my 2013 goals:

1. Set a new half marathon PR
2. Run in NYC
3. Host a fun run
4. Run 1000 miles
5. Do strength exercises consistently

What do your goals look like?

  1. I haven't thought of a single one yet lol

    Great year you had!

    Cheers to a great 2013!

  2. Great job on KO'ing your 2012 goals! I have no doubt that you'll do fantastic with your 2013 goals, too.

  3. Great job on the number of races and half marathon PR! You had a really strong running year!

  4. Good job on running a race every month. I signed up for the 13 in 2013 challenge, so that is obviously one of my goals for 2013.

  5. Looks like you had a GREAT 2012! Mine was pretty good, and I'm definitely looking forward to 2013.......btw, I'm also running the First Run 10K, so if you're near the back of the pack, you might see me! :>)

  6. I love your goals!! And running in NYC is on the top of my list of favorite places to run. Whenever we visit a run around central park is a priority. Have you thought about the NYC Marathon to meet that goal?

  7. Congratulations on your goals! My list keeps getting longer! A major goal is to run my first half marathon, and I'm doing the 13 in 2013 challenge too.

  8. Great job and good luck on your goals :) Love the first quote.

  9. fantastic goals!!!! and I'm so proud of you and your 2012 accomplishments!

  10. Great job and great goals. So far I only have one. Run my first full marathon. I will have more goals but I am still working on them.

  11. Congrats on all that you accomplished in 2012! My first priority is consistent exercise especially resistance training.

  12. You had a fantastic year, Amy!! I love how simple your goals are... I tend to get carried away with goal setting. :)

  13. Look for me in my Chilly Challenge tee!!

  14. I just found out that I got into NYC half, so I'm on my way to crossing that one off the list!

  15. Good luck Sherry. Running the half is one of my favorite distances!

  16. I think it's the teacher in me ;)

  17. I love all the reflecting in the blogger community right now! I am getting so much inspiration for my own goal setting! Looking forward to the chilly challenge.

  18. Awesome year, and great goals for 2013 - and I think you should come down and run in CT in 2013;-)

I love comments!
