Fitness Friday: #GoalGetter2013 March Update

It seemed like good time to stop and look at how I'm doing on my goals for the year. With the help of the #GoalGetter2013 challenge I can find extra motivation to stay on track.

Goal #1- PR Half marathon - done

Goal #2 - Run in NYC - done

Goal #3 - Host a fun run - I had hoped to pull my running friends together for a nice 5K in honor of the Sandy Hook families, but it just didn't happen.

Goal #4 - Run 1000 miles - 257.36 through March! Only 742.64 to go. That's about 82 miles a month, eek!

Goal #5 - Do strength exercises consistently - total fail. Not even a picture to share. April will be my turn around month. Pinky promise!

Tell me about your goal successes/failures.

  4. Ha, ha--a true runner. I hate strength training, too. I do it 2x/week b/c I'm old and I have to, but I would rather run any day of the week. Congrats on hitting so many goals!

  12. I always set a goal of doing more strength training and it never happens! Someday....

  13. I set a goal of 1000 miles for the year, too.... but, I'm thinking that will get changed, seeing as I *might* break 200 tomorrow. C'est la vie. At least I got a new marathon PR already... might even be able to break 5 hours and be not-quite-molasses by fall! And here's a Google fail- the sassy band email from weeks ago showed up in my junk mail YESTERDAY! GAH. The Internet is a weird thing.

  14. Great job on your half marathon and you are definitely on your way to 1000 miles.

My challenge to myself for 2013 is to run 13 half marathons. 13.1, 13 times in 2013. I've done 4 and have 9 more to go.

  17. Awesome job on your PR! Keep running marathons and you'll get closer to 1000 than you think. Ugh to Google!

  18. That's awesome! Good luck with the rest!!

  19. I think strength training is the bane of many a runner's existence. I will use any excuse possible to postpone or skip it; but then I'll get a familiar little knee twinge that reminds me how weak hips sink ships, and I get back on track!

  20. I too am struggling with the strength training. I find that when I get hurt or a week gets rough that is the first thing that gets cut. However, I am continuing to work on speed and hope to add in more speed and strength training when I get better. Great job on your half PR and also running in NYC, how coll!

  21. Hey you are not doing so bad! Keep up the good work! I am horrible with strength training. HORRIBLE. I need to start though because I'm getting older & losing muscle tone!
